Paraphilia profiling: examines the role of paraphilia in the etiology of sex crimes, fantasy development and the creation of sexual predators. To the general public, a person who commits a sex offense is perceived as dangerous regardless of what they do. Sex offending depends on a variety of variables: fantasy, types of victims, opportunity to offend, psychopathic traits etc. Multiple offenses/ multiple victims or multiple counts on one victim. Sexual nature of the crime may be viewed as a subtype of one or more general taxonomies - the sexual attack may be an integral part of the murder, both psychologically and physiologically. For other offenders, the sexual attack may represent a way to degrade, subjugate and destroy the victim, but has little connection to the actual motive(s) for the killing.
