Jem was furious & asked what happened trouble now regretted not mentioning him. Jem stole a pony from mr bassat & it was in his stable: they went out to look at the pony together, tried to sell mary a pony. Jem asked mary what she knew of joss"s business: she says she knows enough (no detail) Jem says if she stays at the inn for much longer she"ll see the murder and horror that happens there.
