Being introspective and self-aware are important characteristics for managers because. In henry mintzberg"s article, the manager"s job: folklore and fact (1990), mintzberg discusses the role of managers in three sets of roles called interpersonal, informational, and decisional roles. These managers, are vested with formal authority over an organizational unit (p. 168). It is important that managers use information from their interpersonal relations. Once this information is acquired, managers can make decisions. they are likely to be effective in their professions. The major focus of a manager is to understand and respond, to the pressures and dilemmas of the job (p. 173). Managers must choose an efficient amount of workload, discourage interruption, and take time making decisions in small steps in order to overcome these problems in the workplace. Therefore, it is important for managers to recognize, effectiveness is significantly influenced by their insight into their own work (p. 173).
