CRIM 2653 Chapter Notes - Chapter 5.7: Behaviorism, Developmentalism
Document Summary
The problem of human nature: human nature understanding human nature leads us to core principels of human psychology (trait)- distinguishing feature of character or personality. Millions of people who are diagnosed with high blood pressure a large number of people don"t have blood pressure. Behaviorlists believe that human beings are nothing more than animals that work within and respond to environments by their behaviors. Behaviorilsm is a school of thought that tells us that our behaviors are less a function of traits and more a function of environment. Our environments produce our traits and our traits produce our behaviors. Behaviorlists tell us that everything is learned and can be unlearned. Developmentalists tell us that you cannot understand behaviors until you understand the behaviors that define an age cohort. And, the way you define behavior is by defining the developmental stage: cognivists tell us human beings are different from animals, because we think about things.
