EDUC 3710 Chapter Notes - Chapter 7: Social Capital
Document Summary
Group members: beatrice sohler, caterina petrolo, nicole mcgill, adam lipman, abidemi. The politics of higher education for refugees in a global. Our group discussed that higher education will help contribute but there are other informal types of education we might not consider as higher education such as musicians, artists, chefs. There is no balance, it"s vital to keep in mind that there are various forms of jobs that can contribute to society which doesn"t include being a doctor or engineer. Investing in higher education does contribute to the development of human and social capital as it places you in a different position and also improves the country"s economy. Global organizations such as the world bank can do better to serve the needs of countries in need for higher education by focusing on improving human development rather than economic development in the country.
