File protection: limiting who can access the files. Unix operating protection system: i) owner (yes read, yes write/delete) ii) group (yes read, no write/delete) iii) world (no to everything) Warning: file extension is only helper, does not mean its organized the right way. Atomic operations: delete, open, close, rename & copy. Processing data: read data , write data, append data & truncate.
