More men than women lost their jobs in the recession. Us, societal norms gave way to civil rights laws opening up new employment opportunities, and women paid labour force participation steadily increased. Now majority of women with young children work at least part time outside of home. Young women hold more bachelor and masters degrees than men, and increase their representation in law, business and medical schools. Women still earn less than men and end up resegregated at lower ends of occupation hierarchies. Women bear responsibility for labour in household, making it harder to compete in outside sphere. Governments cost cutting measures deprive individuals and families of the social safety net. Analysis of formation to gendered labour market international develop gender production.
