Nondisabled people created these euphemism, easily to say and think about. Word to shock, to infuse with pride and self-love, to resist internalized hatred, to help form a politics (like cripple ) Freak to author, has a hurtful edge, does not feel good or liberating. Freakdom extends far back in western civilization entertainment and big business. People came to have their ideas of normal and abnormal reinforced. Shows tell a story of an elaborate social construction that utilized performance, fabrication and deep cultural beliefs. Show capitalized on eagerness of rubes to gawk at freaks.
