On the basis of his nervous weakness = he made a form of art that is valid for everyone. 1st form of art - rape & murder. Impressionists = captures the very way in which objects strike our eyes and attack our senses. Bernard on cezanne"s suicide = aiming for reality while denying himself the means to attain it. Cezanne was trying to pursue reality without giving up the sensuous surface. Cezanne wanted to make nature and art the same thing.
