Document Summary
Second order conditioning can be demonstrated: conditioning where the stimulus that functions as the us is actually the cs from an earlier procedure in which it acquired its ability to produce learning. Operant behavior: behavior that an organism produces that has some impact on the environment. Variable ratio reinforcement: the delivery of reinforcement is based on a particular average number of responses. This reinforcement creates a high steady rate of responding. Fixed interval reinforcements are those where the first response is rewarded only after a specified amount of time has elapsed. This schedule causes high amounts of responding near the end of the interval, but much slower responding immediately after the delivery of the reinforce. Variable interval reinforcement occurs when a response is rewarded after an unpredictable amount of time has passed. Most of our behaviors are the result of shaping, or learning that results from the reinforcement of successive steps to a final desired behavior. (dolphins in seaworld)
