Intersexuality conditions - one is born with ambiguous genitalia, sexual organs, or sex chromosomes that deviate from norm (preves, 2003, 2) Ais - (androgen insensitivity chromosome) xy chromosome person but during gestation does not metabolize testosterone. Partial ais (pais) - diagnosed at birth because external genitalia. Completely (cais) - normal looking vagina with internal testes. Two sex model is a social construct . Not actually but there are at least 3 sexes. Davis believes scientists should classify sex based on appearance of genitalia without categories. A brief history of intersex genital surgery. Doctors look at it as an abnormality that can be corrected. From intersex to disorders of sexual development . Changes made so more thought is put into which sex is chosen. Cissexism - the belief gender is authentic only when it is neatly aligned with sex (serano, 2007) Doctors and parents keep secret from kids. 32% interviewed were straight (liked dsd 75%)
