Either- 3 questions, or make 3 informed comments, or a combination of the two: Three gorges dam- the worlds largest dam ever built, could also be the biggest catastrophe to hit china"s environment. Providing 22,000 megawatts of energy annually to china, it sits about 10% above china"s actual energy needs. It was completed 2006 and it stands 200 meters tall. The chinese government is well aware of the environmental a ects that the dam with have, but they are reluctant to back down from the position of economical gain for china, at the cost of the environment. The site for the dam caused the chinese government to relocate 1. 2 million people from their homes, many of whom have lived their for generations. They are saying that by 2020 that another 4 million people will be resettled because of the dam"s impact on the surrounding area.
