Linear logic: a speech organized in a linear fashion leads the audience through ordered steps. Configural logic: speech organized in a configural fashion explains phenomena in many ways, utilizing a variety of methods. Types of linear patterns: topical, cause and effect, problem - solution, chronological. Types of configural patterns: narrative, web, problem many solutions, multiple perspectives. Simple rules for outlining: begin with a title, specify a purpose statement indicating your intent, specify a thesis statement by laying out your central claim. Main points are followed by at least 2 sub-points. Sometimes sub-points are divided further: conclusion. Only list those references used in the speech. You will need at least 5 credible references, apa format. Don"t focus on ways to cure or maintain it.
