Median- if the data is in order, it"s the one in the middle (or more accurately, the point that half of the data is above and half below)(odinal) Mean- sum of the values divided by the number of values (x with a line above it for statistic, greek u for parameter) Large outliers would no longer have big effect. If you are taking a 5% trimmed mean, then you are getting rid of the top and bottom 5% of the total observations (rounding to the nearest integer) of the data and then calculating mean. Weighted average- (the sum of the (weight times the score)) divided by the sum of the weight. X percentile- a point with x percent below that value (25 percentile is the 1st quartile, 50 percentile is the median, the 75 percentile is the 3rd quartile(q3)).
