Insidious (slow) onset: fluctuation course patches of remission are possible, exacerbated by anxiety, stimulants, does not occur in sleep, treatment: anti-dopamine traits, runs in families- genetic co-morbidity with ocd, can be nearly undetectable in mind cases. Acute organic brain syndromes: comp- cognition orientation (time/place/person) memory perception problems, all 4 organic brain syndrome. Causes of delirium: acute onset almost immediately (acute) or days (sub-acute, anything that messes with your brain- intoxication/sleep apnea/diabetes/kidney disease/ some infections/certain neurotrophic agents/malaria.
