Document Summary

Green algae: bright green, double membraned chloroplasts similar to those in land plants, which contain chlorophyll a and b. Photosynthesis: often live mutually with others, ex. many lichens = (+) algae and fungi relationship. Ulvophyceae: contain many of the species of large green algae. Usually found in haploid form: sexual reproduction usually leads to creating a resting stage (a cell that = dormant in winter). Coleochaetophyceae: barely visible to naked eye. Plasmodesmata connect adjacent cells together, so they are considered multicellular. Only freshwater: asexual reproduction and agellated spores. Only diploid part of their lives is when they are zygotes. Charophyceae (stoneworts: accumulate crusts of calcium carbonate = caco3 multicellular and have plasmodesmata. Mostly live in shallow water: sexually reproduce, eggs are retained in plant and feed it until fertilized, no alteration of generations. only diploid when a zygote, Nonvascular plants: initial line to branch off from land plants.
