The french and american revolution were outgrowths of the 7 years" war(britain and france fight for dominance of the empire in the world) both governments went deeply into debt. They owed this debt to their wealthy subjects who paid for the war. Kings had to raise taxes on their subjects to pay this debt. Britain won the war and france left america. Colonist in america were experiencing overcrowding and the land was overused and producing less crops. They wanted to extend to beyond the appalachians and into the ohio valley. While new land created new opportunities, the economic slump created hardships .
