Whiskey Rebellion
march to capital to stop tax on whiskey
-Washington went to West Virginia to put a stop to the march, but
when he went no one was there because the men knew they would
be out numbered
-stopped with little violence
Republican Party
feared that Federalists wanted enlarged army to threaten domestic
dissenters
Alien and Sedition Acts
Sedition-made conspiracy and revolt illegal as well as criminalized
any speech or words that defamed the president of Congress
Alien- 1. extended waiting period for an alien to achieve citizenship
from 5 to 14 years and required all aliens to register with federal
government
2. empowered the president in time of war to deport or imprison
without trial any foreigner suspected of being a danger to the united
states
