The very young old- ages 56 to 64. 12% of the total u. s. population is over age 65. 1 in 5 older adults live in a rural area and thus faces special considerations and challenges. 95% of people over age 65 live in private homes, retirement communities, or assisted living facilities rather than in institutional nursing homes. Allow older adults to live in houses or apartments based on age restrictions. Cater to those who need some minimal assistance with bathing, dressing, and/or medication administration. Facilities offer different levels of care based on the residents needs. 42% of americans age 70 and older will spend at least some time in nursing homes before they die.
