Document Summary
What is science? a process leading to discovery. What are the basic steps of the method? pg 1-27: make observations, generalization or model (attempt to discern patterns, predictions or hypothesis (assume that the future is like the past) repeat steps test. What happens with the result of this process: the model either gets better. The new observations are either consistent with, confirm, or are not consistent with the model. Goal of science is to create really good models. Hypothesis: an assumption based on your observation (info you know) it really has not validity not sure about the outcome. Theory: hypothesis that has been testes many times and has always been supported | has some weight of validity to it, but it can be changed (theory is very well tested and always supported) Law: theory that has been tested even more and always supported (if a theory happens over and over again, it becomes a law. )
