Examples: hays, fodder, cs hulls: pasture, rage plants, green forgaes. Grasses, wheat pasture, green chop: silages and baleage. Process of ensiling under anaerobic conditions; fermented plant materials. Immature, green and leafy, not many stems, free of mold: legumes vs. grasses: alfalfa and clover are usually higher quality than grasses, energy feeds. Cereal grains such as corn, wheat and milo, by-products: cereal grains are low protein quality, protein supplements. Animal sources- fishmeal, dried skin, milk, and tankage. All of these proteins are expensive: mineral supplements. Examples: salt, bone meal, dicalcium phosphate, rock phosphate: vitamins. Added to the mineral mix for grazing animals as part of their diet: non-nutritive additives. Large group of ingredients added to the diet.
