Not all achieved statuses are something a person wants to attain, for ex: criminal, drug addict, homeless: fatness and obesity are body characteristics which are both ascribed and achieved for adults. Some people are born into obesity but you can also achieve it by not taking care of yourself: master status overrides all others in our identities. Ex: being a college professor is a master status to students: status inconsistency occupying social positions that create conflict because of their ranking ex: relationship between a professor and students. Role behaviors expected of a person in a particular status. Role set different roles attached to a single status. Role conflict two or more roles that conflict, ex: friend is your boss, a mother also being a student. Role strain demands among roles within a single status, ex: having more than one boss.
