Gilgamesh: the most familiar individual of ancient mesopotamian society. Gilgamesh was the 5th king of the city of uruk. He ruled about 2750 b. c. e. and he led his community in its conflicts with kish, a nearby rival city. According to legend, the gods granted gilgamesh a perfect body and endowed him with superhuman strength and courage. Era, meaning: old stone age : between 12,000-6,000 years ago, human communities underwent profound economic, social, and political changes when they began to experiment with the domestication of plants and animals. This is the neolithic era, meaning new stone age , due to the polished stone tools associated with peoples who relied on cultivation for subsistence. Led to agricultural economies: the earliest evidence of agricultural activity discovered so far dates to the era after 9000bce, in southwest asia (modern-day iraq, syria, and turkey), catal huyuk: one of the best-known neolithic settlements.
