Nonverbal communication : a larger category than verbal communication, the clothes you wear, how close you are standing to somebody, facial expressions, raising your voice, or not saying anything at all. Example: when somebody is mad at you, and they don"t want to talk to you, the entire time that the silence is going on, your friend is communicating with you non-verbally. Interactions: you cannot rely on just verbal communication and you cannot rely on just nonverbal communication. Your roommate asks you to borrow money, but you are angry because she didn"t pay you back last time so you reply yeah, sure. Family or friends the people that we are most close to: social space 4 12 feet. Varies for the professional level from culture to culture: in some cultures, it is appropriate to stand closer to someone in a professional situation.
