Document Summary

During wwii the home fronts went through many challenges. For the most part, the home fronts consisted of poverty stricken people with little to no food. Because money was so low, food was low. This then led to rations having to be given out. Nearly all of the countries money was being forked out to the military leaving none left over for everyday civilians. Battle of britain was particularly hard for the british civilians were chiefly observers (9). The civilians could do nothing more than sit back and watch their world fall apart. Not only was the home front raging with poverty, in beck"s writing he mentions that some 1. 4 million people were homeless (11). The homelessness was the outcome of many bombings and air raids. Hamburg and dresden were the main targets of attack at this time, they were not the only cities in britain that was suffering.
