What does it do: protects a substrate from, termites, wood rot, enhance esthetics, colors a surface, provides desired sheen, highlights design elements. Solvents- acrylic, latex- liquid portion of paint that carry the other ingredients. Additives- special purpose ingredients that give the product extra performance features specific to a product"s purpose: mold and mildew inhibitors, defoamers, coalescing agents, driers, freeze-thaw stabalizers. Volume solids- percentage of paint that will be left on the surface after the coating is completely cured: consider: volume of solids is good; quality of sloids determines performance, inexpensive fillers, such as sand and clay, impair performance.
