Document Summary

Hank williams is one of the most important country and western artists in the history of american music. Hank williams died very early on in his career but hank williams and his music became legendary regardless. Bluegrass music often features singing but focuses more on instrumental soloing performed by guitarists and banjoists. Country and western cemented itself as a style separate from popular just as rock was becoming popular. Rhythm and blues before world war ii was considered black music and typically wasn"t listened to by white audiences. Rhythm and blues remained separate from mainstream pop and the pop charts early on in the 20th century. +this changed after world war ii and white soldiers were exposed more to rhythm and blues. Because stations needed to play to local audiences to survive the television, many stations began to play black music to cater to the only audience still listening to them.
