Pa ssy, father mihail (warden of the hermitage - not old, far from learned, humble origins, strong will and steadfast fiath), and father anfim (old and humble little monk of the poorest peasant class, almost illiterate, quiet) Porfiry (the novice) is also present in the tiny room but he stands so that the others can sit. Zossima reveals that he bowed down to dmitri because of the "great suffering in store for him" Zossima reveals that the reason he loves alyosha so much is because his face reminds him of his brother who died when he was young. He loved his brother and there was nothing in his life "more significant and touching or more precious" (page 318)
