A person that is a male isn"t only a male. Johari window- a visual representation of components of the self that are known or unknown to the self and others. Open area- characteristics that are known to the self and to others (name, sex, hobbies) Hidden area- characteristics that you know about yourself but choose not to reveal. Some aspects of one"s self-concept are objective (based on fact) Other aspects however, are subjective (based on our impressions of ourselves) Judgments of ourselves can be unreasonably given people with low self- esteem. An individual"s self-esteem can change due to a major life event (religious conversation or battling a serious illness the culture we come from affects how we see ourselves.
