In this area you can assess preoperative information, observe the patient before and after surgery, and allow sufficient recovery time before the patient is discharged to either the home or an inpatient room: operating room. Intraoperative nursing activities (table 18-1: circulating, nonsterile activities. Assists in preparing room, ensuring that supplies and equipment are available, in working order, and sterile: maintains aseptic technique in all required activities, monitors practices of aseptic technique in self and others ix. xi. Checks mechanical and electrical equipment and environmental factors. Checks chart and relates pertinent data to team members. Helps with the application of monitoring devices and insertion of invasive lines and other devices. Assist with and ensures patient safety in transferring and positioning patient.
