If 20% of the sample likes dvds, then we can assume 20% of the population likes dvds. Hypothesis testing (compare the sample statistic with what is believed to be the population value prior to undertaking the study). Hypothesis (expectation of what the population parameter is) If the sample does not support the hypothesis, revise the hypothesis to be consistent with the sample statistic. Test statistic = ((sample statistic hypothesized population parameter value) / standard error of statistic) Percentage data z = ((p ) / sp: p is the sample percentage, is the population percentage.
