Rule of parsimony (occam"s razor)- given two plausible explanaions for the same event, we should accept the simpler version. Falsiiability- the requirement that a scieniic theory be stated in such a way that it can be tested and disproved if it is indeed wrong. Experiment- a research method that manipulates a variable in a ightly controlled situaion in order to ind out if it has the predicted efect. Survey- a research method that uses quesionnaires and structured interviews to collect self-reported data that relects what respondents think, feel, or intend to do. Ethical imperaive- grant others that occur in your construcion the same autonomy you pracice construcing them. Self-referenial imperaive- include yourself as a consituent of your own construcion. Criical theorists- scholars who use theory to reveal unjust communicaion pracices that create or perpetuate an imbalance of power. Textual analysis- a research method that describes and interprets the characterisics of any text.
