Boston tea party started retaliation which lead to 1st continental congress (dec of independence created) 2nd continental congress - dec signed in effort to forge national unity. American revolution ended with signing of treaty of paris (granted 3 colonies independence) Articles of confederation - 1st written us constitution: focused on limiting central power. Shay"s rebellion - daniel shays led farmer mob who were protesting foreclosures on their land. With articles, uk had to negotiate with e state separately. Weak international position and inner turmoil led many to want to revise articles. Annapolis convention - failed, called for constitutional convention. Constitutional convention - instead of revising, decided to make new constitution. Va plan - rep by pop so liked by large states, legislative branch assigns others.
