She wrote instrumental chamber pieces (sontatas), keyboard pieces (suites), and vocal pieces (operas, cantatas, songs, and airs) She was born into an important family of musicians and masons who built instruments. Sang and played the harpsichord before king louis xiv at the age of 5. At louis xiv"s court, she was noticed by the king"s mistress, madame de montespan at around age 15 and became a part of the court as a musician. King louis xiv was her patron and financially supported her talent. She married the organist marin de la guerre in 1684 and left the court. But still retained her connections to the royal circle and dedicated almost all of her published works to the king. After she got married, she taught and gave concerts in her home and throughout paris.
