A repeated and persistent pattern of having an angry and irritable mood in conjunction to demonstrating defiant and vindictive behavior difficult behavior for 6 months. Negativity, defiance, disobedience, hostility directed toward authority figures. Long-term, multi modal: family therapy, engagement of teachers & other involved adults, parent training, parent- child interaction therapy, supportive therapy, training in problem solving, cbt (behavior modification therapy/ Change in behavioral functioning at home and school. Pattern of behavioral outburst in adults 18 years or older characterized by an inability to control aggressive impulses verbal, physical and targeted towards other persons, animals or property or even themselves. Degree of aggressiveness expressed during the episodes is grossly out of proportion to any precipitating psychosocial stressors. Not due to direct physiological effects of a substance or general medication condition. First stage tension and arousal based on environmental stimuli. Third stage sense of relief and release, taking satisfaction. Delayed consequences feelings of remorse, regret, and embarrassment over aggressive behavior.
