The theory of coordinated management meaning (cmm) is set up as another bidirectional model for society to understand the implications of the words and symbols used to communicate with each other. Pearce and cronen assert that when interacting and conversing with another, individuals begin to construct their own assumptions of reality both within the conversation and outside of the conversation. Cmm allows for people in social situations to form their responses and interactions based off of others in the same situation. This is how things like social norms are established within society; individuals look at how others interact and they assume the same behavior and this continues in a cyclical pattern. This is like how the president interacts with people that confirm his biases within the world to continue operating as the president and making the decisions that he does.
