Less emphasis on unconscious mental processes and more emphasis on conscious thought. Modern ego psychologists focus on the processes driving the perception and conscious comprehension of reality. Ego psychology - psychology focusing on perception, memory, learning, and rational, conscious thinking. Less emphasis on instinctual drives and mental life as the source of psychological difficulties, and focuses instead on interpersonal relationships.
