PSB 3002 Chapter Notes - Chapter 3: Dura Mater, Choroid Plexus, Pia Mater
Document Summary
Ipsilateral: structures on the same side of the body: ex. Soft, spongy, and lies beneath the dura mater. Inner layer: pia mater: closely attached to the brain and spin cord, follows every surface convolution. 125 ml and the half- life is about three hours. Intact brain: floats in a bath of csf contained within the subarachnoid space. Completely immersed in liquid causes it net weight to be reduced to approx. 80 grams and the pressure on the base is considerably diminished: csf surrounding the brain and spinal cord also reduces the shock to the cns that would be caused by sudden head movement.
