Class differences between people both economically and in terms of power. Power people in the higher social class have greater control over a whole range of resources. Have greater control and power over their day to day lives. Absolute poverty- complete absence of clothing, food, and shelter: developing countries. Relative poverty- where people have a standard of living that is lower than an acceptable standard of living in a given society. Poverty is seen as the result of government policy and the global economic system. Highlight individual weakness and individuals taking advantage of state benefits. People who have voluntarily absented themselves from the working world and live on state benefits: dependency culture little incentive to work because they have benefits. Few roomy comfortable seats at the front for the business class rest of plane is less spacious. Focuses on the negative emotional experiences, the stresses of living in an unequal society.
