Food >> hormones >> tell our body to do something. Come from glands all over the body in the endocrine system. These glands are not physically connected to one another. Glands release hormones that travel in the blood. Every hormone has a source, a target cell, and its function. We have very little amount of hormone in our body, but they are nevertheless effective. There must be a specific amount of hormones in our blood. Hormones regulate the body to reach homeostasis. Fluctuate >> correct >> fluctuate >> correct >> etc. Diabetes = inability to regulate sugar levels. Has a (cid:700)set poi(cid:269)t(cid:701) that (cid:342)e (cid:342)a(cid:269)t to regulate back to. Glucose regulation we want 70-100 mg/dl in blood stream. Insulin is released when sugar levels are high to bring it down. Stores sugar in the liver and muscle. Glucagon is released when sugar levels are low to bring it up. Proteins travel freely in blood, steroids travel bound.
