With russia attacking from the east and germany from the west, the polish army is defeated in six weeks. It was about retaining spheres of influence (soviets get the east and germany the west) and a non aggression pact. Entire universities are forced into concentration camps. Innocent people are murdered for being hostile elements . Hostages were often taken as ransom, but this also led to the killing of hundreds of innocent civilians. The poles are classified as slavs, a lesser race. The germans want them as slaves basically. Not allowed to ride on buses with germans, etc. The worst extermination camps are opened here. Poland is to be germanized and will be split into two parts. The western part will be the german part. The eastern part will be the general government . This is where all the ethnic poles and jews will go. Jews are the first to be deported under the watch of adolf eichmann.
