People can invest their stock elsewhere if they so choose. The author"s retort is that there are huge companies like glencore taking over everything and becoming immune to certain standards, and stock prices are dropping, and confidences are depressed, and the developed economies are not growing. Operations employees are typically taught health and safety operations, and how to do their job. Skills required are generally very minimal for operations line tasks, but training could help enhance these skills, such as specialty training, code reading, tech training, etc. They can also emphasize the possibility of higher productivity from the individual workers if they have a better grasp on how to do their job or how to do it more efficiently. Procrastination is an emotional strategy for dealing with stress.
