As the 19th century arrived there was a need for fertility restrictions. This came about because women were given jobs that needed more attention and raising children was a full time job in and of itself. Soon after this there was a large movement against the new laws. As a result, they were able to get back their rights to birth control methods. As the 19th century went on, the typical family grew smaller with much fewer children. They focused more on their closest family being the parents and children.
