Interval- a difference in highness or lowness between two notes. Diatonic scale- seven pitches within an octave. Chromatic scale- 12 successive pitches each one half step apart. Melody- an organized series of pitches; a melody can be built from any scale. Tune- a simple, easily singable catchy melody. Theme- the basic subject matter of longer pieces of music. This is similar to the topic" in writing. Phrases- a musical sentence" used to convey a musical idea. Sequence- the duplication of a phrase at two or more different pitch levels. Climax- the point at which early sections of music head towards.
