Social in uence: effect that words, actions, presence of others have on thoughts, feelings, attitudes or behaviors. Social in uences broader that attempts by a person to change another persons behavior. Presence of others imaginary approval/disapproval (governs us) To do research that speci es conditions under which one or another event is most likely to take place. Personality psychologist focus on individual differences (aspects of personality that makes people different) Social psychologists believe focusing on behavior leaves out the powerful role of social in uence.
