There has been a significant drop to test scores in the us for math and science due to the inequality in schools against minority groups. Functionalist theory- education accomplishes functions of society, like socialization, occupational training, and social control. Industrialization- schools tend to teach socialization directly and indirectly. Occupational training- many jobs in today"s society require at least a high school diploma, but often times a college degree. Conflict theory- emphasizes how education unifies and stabilizes society.
