Many theological questions that needed to be answered from all sorts of aspects - as islam came in contact with other religions, more questions were raised. As time went on, many scholars grew big and founded their own schools of thought - hanbali, hanafi, shafi. Emphasis that god has many qualities as one entity. Physical statements of god are to be interpreted metaphorically. Belief that god is perfectly just and incapable of evil. Debates of god"s nature and whether he created evil or because evil exists because god doesn"t do evil things. People who sin have the chance to repent. Spectrum of sinners forever vs everyone having some good in them. All three are part of the faith, and therefore faith could increase of decreases in terms of actions. Obligation to work for a just and moral society in accordance with the power one had. A leader does not need to be protected from error.
