Explain the changes made by vladimir putin that are evidence that the russian political system has become more authoritarian. Towards the end of putin"s second term, he hand picked dimitri medvedev for president; Medvedev subsequently appointed putin as pm in which putin initiated many changes. Putin wanted to make the russian state run more efficiently; therefore, he consolidated power. This allowed for putin to in turn increase the power of the presidency (a bit too much which weakened the federal system). Election to federation council directly elected by the people. Directly elected by the people must come from an approved. Freedom of speech (putin called for (cid:498)power to the people(cid:499)) Killings(cid:499) + propaganda; media is now a positive chronical of media outlets. Putin"s day suspended/banned due to lack of russian nationalism. Putin was able to capture the majority of the seats in the duma because putin was able to use state resources and state media to advertise.
