What we aim for: secondary intention healing: used when loss of tissue. Wound requires gradual filling of dead space with ct, a lot more scarring: third intention healing: involves delayed primary closure. Wounds intentionally left open for several days for irrigation or debris removal, once debris removed and inflammation subsides, wound can be closed by 1st intention.
