Hstr 240 lecture 2 renaissance in italy and beyond. Resurrection of the classical spirit of ancient greece and rome. New golden age of art and culture. Overlapped medieval and early modern periods across europe: times of crisis yet also incredible gains. Happened at different times in different areas of europe. Humans began to create things with new inquiries. Wide and extensive: italy -> france -> takes a long time to occur in russia: looks different in various areas. Different outlook on life: still christian, very religious age but: becoming more concerned with past and this world (i. e. not only the next) Humanism: human nature and human achievements were worthy of contemplation, proper study of mankind: man himself. Different outlook is the key to what caused the renaissance become what it was. Its worth to study humans; how we live, the way you are to progress; studies, humanities: focus on poetry, history and maths.
